Reneepoptosis

Directed by Renee Zhan (USA/Japan, 2018, 10 min.). Animated.

Three Renees go on a quest to find God, who is also Renee. As they traverse the mountains and valleys of Renee, they discover all the great joys, sorrows, and mysteries of being Renee.

 

The F Word

Directed by Lucia Rinaldi (USA, 2019, 3 min.). Live action.

A family puts on their best smiles for their annual photo; but the illusion of togetherness hides a darker reality, where each family member faces their problems alone.

 

“A” My Name Is

Directed by Sarah T. Schwab (USA, 2018, 12 min.). Live action.

A young girl with early stage cancer has a late-night adventure that culminates in the consideration of her mortality. With subtle and playful grace, the film explores the transition from childhood into adulthood through the eyes of a sick youth.

 

The Call

Directed by Anca Damian (Romania, 2018, 10 min.). Animated.

An elderly woman's bathtub becomes a place to escape into memories, fantasies, and other watery reveries, in Anca Damian's free-flowing yet astoundingly intricate animation.

 

Melody

Directed by Anna Wheeler (Canada, 2019, 12 min.). Live action.

Newfoundland; 1984. Two young women find themselves in an impossible situation. With no one to turn to and against all odds, the pair take the road trip of their lives.

Based on the story Melody by Lisa Moore, from her 2002 collection of short stories, Open.

 

A Celebration

Directed by Mahsa Razavi (Canada, 2019, 11 min.). Live action.

A Celebration is a short drama about 8-year-old Ada​ living with her ​newly immigrated mother in ​Toronto,​ ​as they try to make ends meet​. Ada tries to convince her mother to celebrate Thanksgiving by cooking a turkey. However, when Ada sets out to celebrate Thanksgiving like a “true Canadian”, she discovers what it means to be an immigrant family.

 

Day Out

Directed by Virginia Gilbert (Ireland, 2018, 13 min.). Live action.

A father takes his daughters on an impromptu day out to the seaside with unsettling consequences.

 

Untravel

Directed by Ana Nedeljkovic (Serbia/Slovakia, 2018, 10 min.). Animation.

A girl lives in an isolated country, enclosed by a huge wall. She has never traveled anywhere, but all her life she has dreamed of leaving forever for a perfect world called Abroad.

 

Sh’hab

Directed by Amal Al-Muftah (Qatar, 2018, 13 min.). Live action.

 Upon hearing a myth about falling stars, a young girl's curiosity is sparked. When night falls on AlWakrah village, she sets out on her father's boat, with the assistance of her older brother, to chase the fabled comets.
